Local Developers Continue Their Support for the Transformation of Downtown Midland

MIDLAND, MICHIGAN – Shaheen Development of Saginaw and Turtle Cove Properties of Midland are pleased once again to have a role in the transformation of downtown Midland, this time as part of the development of Gratzi Italian restaurant, Midland’s newest dining sensation.

The two developers collaborated with Gratzi owners Main Street Ventures of Ann Arbor to create a distinctive dining experience downtown, located on the ground level of the stunning H Residence condo development at the corner of Main and Ashman streets. Gratzi has been a staple of the Ann Arbor dining scene for decades, offering regional Italian cuisine and fine wine, tailored to the seasons.

Shaheen Development is owned by Saginaw brothers Samuel Shaheen, M.D., president, and Peter Shaheen, vice president. The family owns and operates a real estate development company with more than two million square feet of residential, mixed-use, and commercial real estate in the Great Lakes Bay Region including THE H Residence and Century 21 Signature Realty on Ashman, along with other developments.

Turtle Cover Properties is owned by David and Patti Kepler, long-time Midland residents. Its focus is on investments supporting community, nature, and families, and providing opportunities for youth to experience the outdoors. Properties developed by Turtle Cove include Pathfinder Commons, a new apartment complex under construction downtown, along with Midland Brewing Company and Cottage Creamery on north Saginaw Road, among others.

“Shaheen Development and Turtle Cove Properties share a vision for a vibrant, thriving region,” said David Kepler. “Gratzi offers the high quality dining and urban vibe the community will love and we are thrilled to work with Main Street Ventures to share this dining experience with area residents. Our hope is that Gratzi becomes a destination dining experience for the region.”

The public is invited to grand opening events including a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by the Midland Area Chamber of Commerce to be held Tuesday, April 10 at 5 p.m. Two fundraising dinners in support of Shelterhouse of Midland and the MidMichigan Health Foundation of MidMichigan Regional Medical Center, will be Tuesday, April 10 and Wednesday, April 11 respectively, with reservations for both beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $125 with proceeds going to the nonprofit organizations. The evening includes a chef-inspired dinner featuring some of Gratzi’s finest Italian dishes paired with a special selection of wine and beer.
