This $8 million dollar project was a historic restoration of a 2,200-seat, 1927 vaudeville theatre. This project was a philanthropic contribution that the Shaheens made to the Saginaw community. The Temple Theatre has received the 2005 Governor’s Award for Historic Preservation, as well as the Michigan Historic Preservation Network 2006 Building Award. This project demonstrates the unique skill set that Shaheen Development has in adapting to technical and out-of-the-ordinary challenges.
This project entailed extensive historic research and documentation, complying with federal guidelines, technical expertise in theatrical power systems, lighting and sound, and extensive structural steel modifications to modernize the theatre rigging system. This project was accomplished within an aggressive schedule of 10 months.
The documentary video presented below offers a detailed history of this important building and its impact on Saginaw throughout the years.
