Shaheen Development is led by brothers Dr. Samuel Shaheen and Peter Shaheen, both natives of Saginaw, Michigan, who learned the family business from their parents, Dr. Samuel and Patricia Shaheen.

Dr. Shaheen is the president and CEO of Shaheen Development, providing executive oversight
and strategic guidance for construction and management of key projects. His hands-on
experience in real estate development ranges from riverfront revitalization to historic
renovation. He’s especially knowledgeable in healthcare construction, Shaheen Development’s
vast and specialized area of development. Dr. Shaheen has a special interest in mixed-use
development concepts where office, retail, and residential investments create a new urban
core.
Peter Shaheen, vice president of the firm, leads the teams and the processes that produce our projects, from land acquisition and the many stages of construction to ribbon-cutting and occupancy. Peter’s education in engineering and business is reflected in his attention to detail regarding safety, quality, productivity, and aesthetics.
Eric’s responsibilities include management of the financial and treasury operations, economic development incentives, and real estate transaction activity. He has 20 years of financial administration experience concentrated in the areas of real estate, commercial banking, and portfolio management. Eric’s passion for development aligns perfectly with a commitment to community concepts fundamental to the Shaheen family.
Al has more than 20 years of construction industry experience—and award-winning results. His projects include design for hundreds of properties throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland. His most recent undertaking for Shaheen Development was the Dow Corning Business Services Center in Bay City. Al’s memberships include the American Institute of Architects, International Facility Management Association and the Chartered Institute of Building. He is also a Microsoft Certified Professional.
Nick joined the team at Shaheen Development in 2012 with more than 18 years of experience
in commercial, healthcare, retail/restaurant, office, civic, and residential building design and
construction. He is registered in the state of Michigan, and certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
When Shaheen Development was started more than 50 years ago, Dr. Shaheen (Doc) and Patty looked after everything themselves—from land acquisition to bookkeeping, and everything in between, in addition to caring for a busy medical practice and a growing family. Driven by their commitment to invest in their community, they saw a great need and many opportunities in a dynamic economy. Shaheen Development became one of the Great Lakes Bay Region’s most successful real estate development firms.
If there is a jewel in the crown of their accomplishments, it is the majestic Temple Theatre, literally rescued from the wrecking ball and restored to its early century splendor under the watchful leadership of Doc and Patty. They donated the completed masterpiece to the community in 2012, forming the Temple Theatre Foundation to sustain it for future generations. “Doc” passed away in August 2013. His sons Samuel and Peter now uphold the Shaheen vision, legacy, and steadfast commitment to the communities of the Great Lakes Bay Region.

Shaheen Development and Dow Corning crafted a plan for Uptown that relied on a series of bold and innovative steps from both firms to acquire, develop and populate this new district in Bay City. Over the past 15 plus years I have worked with Shaheen Development on numerous occasions regarding our business location and facilities and each experience has been very positive. Our experience in working with Shaheen Development on the architectural and interior design of 999 S. Washington Street was outstanding. Our goal was to create an upscale office environment for nearly 90 staff members, with aesthetics which are professional, warm and welcoming, and reflect the success the business has enjoyed. I highly recommend the Shaheen Development team for turn-key construction management projects. The entire development team joined us in a collaborative partnership for the design and build of our restaurant Real Seafood Company located at 199 Uptown Drive in Bay City, MI, which is one of the most visually stunning restaurants in our restaurant portfolio. Shaheen Development’s commitment to any project would certainly ensure that the project exceeds expectations, is done professionally with a high level of collaboration and commitment to quality.

We broke ground in January, 2000 and the facility was completed in July. We held biweekly meetings with Shaheen Development and all subcontractors, office furniture company, communications companies, municipalities, security company, engineering as well as all department heads which resulted in a well communicated, well orchestrated build out.
